Since 2018, Pioneer has expanded and re-sorted its range of CarPlay devices for retrofitting. Pioneer is fully committed to wireless connectivity in addition to the standard USB connection. For the user, this means that connection is simply simpler and more convenient, and there is no need for the tedious tangle of cables around the centre console. This is also the case with the new Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX launched in the USA.
The special feature here is that the base unit fits into a 1-DIN slot, while the retractable display measures an impressive 10.1 inches. The Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX can be connected to the iPhone either wirelessly or via USB.
The large display is located in front of the dashboard and it remains to be seen if and how it will be accepted by the user. Pioneer has published all technical specifications here.
Both devices also have Android Wireless Auto Integration.
The Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX is so far only available in the USA and is expected to be launched in spring. The price should be USD 1,200.
In addition, Pioneer is offering a device with a 9 inch display with the DMH-WT8600NEX. The price is expected to be just under USD 1,000.
